Digital Storytelling

"Digital Storytelling" is the practice of using digital tools to tell a particular story you want to share with the world. Digital stories are commonly used by individuals of all walks of life and all ages to share their life stories and perceptions with others, and storytellers are able to readily customize the presentation of their stories using an ever-increasing array of media production techniques, hardware, and software.

Although digital storytelling may sound like a difficult process, it makes use of some tools you probably already know how to use. Many digital stories, for instance, incorporate images, video, and audio captured with smartphones, and audio files from voice or music recording software, but digital stories may also feature digitized non-born digital photographs or images, hand-written texts, and other types of personal artifacts. These various components are then woven together in a video editor to create a digital storyDigital stories are commonly shared with an international audience over the Internet, on popular video-hosting sites, such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Because digital stories can be made up of varying combinations of still and moving imagery, sound, and text, this form of storytelling offers exciting opportunities for personal expression and connection with the audience.
